Teknova Studios, the international visual effects and post-production company founded by filmmaker and entrepreneur Krish Thakkar, has reached a major milestone in its international expansion after being accepted onto the approved vendor list managed by Netflix India's outsourcing management company in Mumbai. The approval, overseen by Gaurang Pandya and Dhaval Thakrar, positions Teknova Studios among the studios eligible to contribute visual effects work for future Netflix productions managed through the outsourcing network.

The announcement comes as the rapidly growing company continues to strengthen its presence across both Hollywood and the Indian film industry while simultaneously expanding into feature film development.

At just 24 years old, Thakkar has already built an unusually diverse career as a filmmaker, cinematographer, director, editor, visual effects supervisor and entrepreneur. Through Teknova Studios, he oversees projects from initial production through final post-production, allowing filmmakers to work with a single creative partner across the entire filmmaking pipeline.

‘As filmmakers, we're entering an era where geography matters less than creativity,’ says Thakkar. ‘India has incredible talent, Hollywood has incredible opportunities, and technology allows both industries to collaborate like never before. Our goal is to help make those collaborations seamless.’

Born and raised in Mumbai, Thakkar developed his passion for filmmaking at an early age. Before moving to Los Angeles to continue his education at the New York Film Academy, he worked throughout India's entertainment industry on television, commercials, feature films and digital productions.

His early career included serving as Associate Director on India's Best Dancer while contributing to major productions including Runway 34 and Moving In With Malaika. Those experiences laid the foundation for the multidisciplinary philosophy that now defines Teknova Studios.

The company has rapidly established itself as an international visual effects partner. One of its most significant recent projects was Dhurandhar: The Revenge (2026), where Thakkar worked alongside his team as a Visual Effects Artist. The film became one of India's largest box-office successes, grossing more than ₹1,800 crore (approximately US$153 million) worldwide.

Teknova Studios also supervised the complete visual effects production for Ivory Nights at the Center of the Galaxy, overseeing the project from concept through final delivery. The film received a special screening at the historic Olympia Theatre during the Cannes Film Festival, further demonstrating the studio's growing reputation for cinematic-quality visual effects on international productions.

While visual effects remain at the heart of the company, Teknova Studios is now taking the next step in its evolution.

The company is currently in discussions with Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment regarding the upcoming feature film Paper Back Original. The screenplay is based on a novel whose adaptation rights have already been secured by a writer associated with Teknova Studios. Although contractual details remain confidential under non-disclosure agreements, the project signals the company's ambitions to move beyond servicing productions into developing and producing original feature films alongside established industry partners.

The expansion reflects the changing landscape of modern filmmaking, where production companies increasingly seek partners capable of delivering everything from cinematography and visual effects to complete post-production and creative supervision.

For Thakkar, however, technology is only valuable when it serves the story. ‘Technology should never replace creativity. Instead, it should empower filmmakers to tell stories that would otherwise be impossible. That's the philosophy behind everything we create at Teknova Studios.’

Beyond commercial productions, Thakkar is passionate about mentoring emerging filmmakers and making professional production workflows accessible to independent creators. He believes that advances in artificial intelligence, virtual production and real-time rendering will lower barriers to entry while creating entirely new opportunities for storytellers around the world.

His unique experience working across both the Indian and American entertainment industries provides a valuable perspective on how filmmaking is rapidly becoming a truly global collaborative business.
