To all journalists, bloggers, vloggers, influencers, distributors, and industry professionals: it’s quite rare for a filmmaker or distributor to screen a movie that’s only half-finished – and even rarer when that film already radiates the kind of cult energy beloved by fans of fantastic cinema. However, in the case of Ivory Night – Producer Peter Salladé decided not to overthink the potential for disaster and host a work-in-progress screening during the Cannes Film Festival at Olympia 7 on May 21, 8pm.

Born out of the creative whirlwind that is Cannes itself, Ivory Night has already started attracting attention through both underground and mainstream industry networking events, creator intimidation… er, outreach, and growing online curiosity surrounding the project and its mysterious – over powered, under dressed – lead figure, ‘Ivory.’
The interest is definitely there, perhaps even without having to follow the time-honored b-movie tradition of bribing movie professionals with finance or flesh!
Over the past days, the team behind the film has been everywhere at once, attending Cannes gatherings and creator-focused events – including the World Woman Red Carpet Reception, the YouTube Creator’s Forum, and the debauchery at the Raindance Villa. At these events, Ivory Night Issue #1 collectible comics and exclusive contact keychains were distributed to international creators and film professionals. Concerned parties have begun theorizing that the team may actually have been duplicated by otherworldly demonic monstrosities recalling the Rohrwacher / Dolan / Cronenberg situation in 2014.

About the Screening
The screening offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience the retro sci-fi atmosphere, unfiltered fandom passion, love for vintage science fiction, and evolving creative vision of the project while it is still actively taking shape – including generous amounts of green screen, bizarre practical and digital effects, and costumes tighter than Robin’s panties in that Gary Busey Batman movie that was lost in the desert.
‘Cannes has been intense, chaotic, inspiring, and surreal in the best possible way,’ said producer Peter Salladé. ‘We wanted to embrace that energy rather than wait for perfection. This screening is about inviting people into the process and allowing them to discover Ivory Night early.’

Of course, even more social media content, behind-the-scenes material, and revealing Cannes video coverage connected to the project are currently being debated internally so that only the strangest, most disjointed, and delightfully enigmatic material will be unleashed upon the public in the coming weeks.
