Ark Movie Productions and Badass PR are proud to report that My House, a powerful new feature film that dives deep into the rise of London’s near-legendary underground club scene and the establishment of Turnmills, the UK’s first 24-hour nightclub, is currently in the development stage.
Directed and written by seasoned actor and filmmaker Ray Burdis (The Krays, Love Honour and Obey starring Jude Law and Ray Winstone, the BAFTA-winning The Wee Man, award-winning BBC series Operation Good Guys, etc.), and developed in close collaboration with world-famous DJ Tall Paul (Rock Da House, Precious Heart), My House is set to bring one of the most defining eras in UK music culture to life.

From Underground Movement to Global Phenomenon
My House is told through the eyes of Tall Paul himself, at that time not just the resident DJ of Turnmills, but also one of the key people behind the legendary night The Gallery – destined to become a cornerstone of UK club culture.
Turnmills was built by John Newman and family during a period marred by restrictive licensing laws. Despite the odds being stacked against them, the Newmans managed to push the boundaries and secure a 24-hour music-and-dance license that would change the landscape of British nightlife forever.

The Soundtrack of a Generation
As what was, up until then, underground music forcibly broke into the mainstream, and London became a worldwide capital for electronic music, an entirely new audience was shaped. Audiences will be immersed in the raw energy of the 1990s club boom, where Turnmills was at the heart of a revolution fuelled by sweat, bass, and rebellion, shaped by an entire generation, as the club quickly became a magnet for global talent and a defining force in the unstoppable rise of house music.
The film pays lasting tribute to the artists who defined the era, such as Danny Rampling, Pete Tong, Sister Bliss, Carl Cox, Tiësto, Paul Oakenfold, and Fatboy Slim – names that helped transform house music from a subculture to a movement that would send waves around the world, with Turnmills at its epicentre.

The Drama Behind the Scenes
Despite its jubilant soundtrack, My House is much more than just a celebration or a glorification of a single music genre – it’s also a story of continued resistance, great sacrifice, and lasting legacy. As the club’s influence grew, so did the pressure on all those involved. With the authorities closing in and tensions rising to new heights, a shocking act of extreme violence would leave a terrible mark on the venue as well as the family that was running it.
Although Turnmills undeniably secured its place in music history, it ultimately had to close its doors after an emotional final chapter before the building was demolished in 2008.

An Authentic Accounting
With Tall Paul serving as both executive producer, co-writer, and creative consultant, My House is firmly rooted in the same raw authenticity that defined the era's music, spirit, and chaos. A child of that period, accomplished director Ray Burdis brings a character-driven approach to the story, ensuring the film will resonate with a wide audience, ranging from those who lived through the rise of house music, to the young kids who are just now discovering their own musical preferences, and those who come in because of their interest in the story and drama happening behind the scenes.
With serious conversations around nightlife, cultural spaces, authenticity, artificial intelligence, and creative freedom held throughout all nations, My House arrives as both a time capsule stacked with weighty reminders and a timely reflection on the current state of the world – highlighting the importance of spaces that allow culture to evolve and the ability to be original without resorting to derivative sources.
